The situation
Programs where the tolerance for error is low, the compliance requirements are real, and the documentation matters as much as the code. The work ranged from predictive-maintenance data pipelines for the U.S. Army to infrastructure supporting national-security research.
What I did
- Built data pipelines that could be audited end to end, with every transformation traceable to its source.
- Designed infrastructure to meet the program’s security requirements by default, rather than bolting controls on afterward.
- Wrote documentation to the standard the program required, which is the standard I now use for everyone.
The outcome
Systems that passed review and stayed in service. The habits from this work, get it right, write it down, and don’t cut corners where it counts, are the habits I bring to every commercial engagement.
